How do you keep a fun and creative environment while annually doubling the revenue and avoiding the destructive path of too much process & control?

To have fun while creating a kick-ass global payment solution is the core of Klarna’s Research & Development department. Most firms talk about aligning engineering to the business, but we have already taken the next step by dissolving the Business Development department and integrated the business into the engineering teams. By doing so we are minimizing the process overhead and keeping our very creative start-up-culture even though we are growing very rapidly. Regarding technology we have chosen not to go the traditional path and we are using Erlang and JavaScript to create a light weight and scalable system that enables us to offer high availability and flexibility to our customers.
